In addition, Brianna can recognize a teacher who has had a great impact and influence on her. Brianna chose Ms. Heather Solmon as STAR Teacher of the Year. This is the 4th time that Ms. Solmon has received this honor. The Walker County Chamber of Commerce provided a donation of $100 for the STAR Student. Message from Superintendent Day:

Since the weather is soooo hot and also since we are going to have to park our high school students at Dan McNally Field for the first month or so of school and have them walk over to the high school, I have decided to allow students to wear shorts to school (and staff to wear no ties) until Oct. 7 which will be the last day of school before Fall Break.  I do not intend to surpass our typical practice of wearing shorts til Labor Day next year---just this one time due to the inconvenience of the construction.

GLHS Picnic/Tailgate Party

A message from Superintendent Day:

I want to personally thank the citizens of Chickamauga for taking the time to vote on the school bond issue—whether you voted yes or no.  There was a large turnout which indicates the voters were engaged, and I feel confident the outcome of the election is representative of the desire of the majority of the community.  I do feel the appropriate decision has been made to ensure our school system has a long future, and our students have safe, secure facilities that are efficient and effective.  Although there is tremendous emotion associated with this decision, I think it was made by asking, “What is best for the students?”  If we do that, I think we are always doing the right thing.

Chickamauga City School Board Chairman Corky Jewell addresses the public on the referendum to issue a bond to complete construction of proposed Gordon Lee High School.

We value you as a parent, school partner, and participant in the school improvement process. Please take a few moments between now and May13th to complete an online survey. Please complete a separate survey for each of your children attending Chickamauga City Schools. Your input helps to identify the needs in our school system and to plan for the next school year. Below is the online address for each school’s survey.  Survey links to all school’s surveys will be posted on the system website also. The survey has been condensed and should not take very long to complete. Thank you for your assistance as we work together to ensure a tradition of excellence continues.
