Youth Success Academy

The Youth Success Academy presents “Preparing Youth for Success”. These free mini sessions are designed to equip youth to be successful entering the workforce. Target age is 16-24.


Interviewing at your Best – January 10th @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm

The first step toward employment is learning how to apply and interview for a job. Interviewing well takes practice. In this session, you will see an actual mock interview with both correct and incorrect scenarios. Students will also be given opportunities to practice answering interview questions. Students will get a better understanding of what to do in an interview to give them the confidence to stand out from other applicants.


College & Career – February 7th @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Many young people do not know where to begin figuring out what career path they want to pursue. In this session, the youth will do some self-evaluations to help determine what gifts, talents, and abilities they have that may direct them to discover where they will be most content in their careers. Students will learn about the necessary steps to apply to college and will be given resources to help them to be successful.


Preparing Your Resume – March 14th @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Many young people don’t have any idea how to prepare a resume or how to highlight their skills and work experience in a way to set them apart from other applicants. We will help them be able to set up their resume and give them a better understanding about how the resume can make them stand out as an applicant before they get to interview.


Communication – April 11th @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Professionalism in communication may be a lacking skill for young people. We will practice professional communication skills in speaking, texting, emailing, telephone etiquette, and interpersonal communication. We will also discuss the impact of verbal and non-verbal communication.


Professionalism & Ethics – May 9th @ 5:00 – 6:00 pm

Part of understanding professionalism is figuring out how each of our individual actions impacts the work place and the work of employees. This session includes topics such as respect for authority, willingness to serve and work with others, workplace attitude, punctuality, diligence in meeting responsibilities, and workplace ethics.


Dressing for Success – June 13th @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

A clean and neat professional appearance is an important step in making a good first impression. This session shows young people do’s and don’ts of what to wear in the interview and also in the workplace.
