2005 season updates
May 18 — Gordon Lee's season ended with a doubleheader loss to Landmark Christian in the second round of the state playoffs. The Trojans dropped the first game 11-2 and then fell in game two by a 13-10 score.
May 13 — Ryan Ellis fired a no-hitter, striking out 10, as the Trojans shut out Prince Avenue Christian 2-0 in game one of their state playoff series. An RBI double by Scotty Mattos was Gordon Lee's only hit of the game. The Trojans won game two by a 4-3 score. Mattos was 2-for-4 with a home run. Garett Burgess was the winning pitcher and Jake Sharrock got the save.

May 6 — Gordon Lee lost to Temple 5-3. The Trojans outhit the visitors five to three, but the Tigers took advantage of three fourth-inning errors to score four unearned runs. Jonathon Tarvin was the only Trojan with more than one hit, going 2-for-3.
May 2 — Gordon Lee doubled up Trion 18-9. Will Brooks was 3-for-3 with seven RBIs, including a grand slam. Scotty Mattos and Matt Thornburg also homered for the Trojans. The win assures GLHS of no worse than a second-place region finish and a first-round state playoff series at home.
April 30 — The Trojans managed only two hits in a 3-1 loss to Bowdon.
April 27 — Gordon Lee defeated Bremen 6-5. Zach Burns was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Garett Burgess was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Brice Reynolds also had two hits for the Trojans, who are now 6-1 in region play.
April 25 — The Trojans trailed Chattanooga Christian 5-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, but scored twice in the fifth and once in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Will Brooks then drove in the game-winning run in the eighth for a 6-5 Gordon Lee win. Matt Thornburg was the winning pitcher, throwing 4 1/3 innings of one-hit relief. Brooks, Zach Burns, Garett Burgess, and Jake Sharrock all had two hits.
April 22 — Gordon Lee pounded Excel Christian 12-2. Tyler Beesley pitched all five innings of the rule-shortened game, allowing only one hit and two unearned runs, and striking out 12. At the plate Beesley went 2-for-3 with a homer, a double, and four RBIs. Garett Burgess also had two hits for the Trojans.
April 19 — The Trojans lost to Temple 8-3. Zach Burns, Scotty Mattos, and Garett Burgess each had two hits for Gordon Lee.
April 16 — Gordon Lee knocked off Lookout Valley 10-0. Tyler Beesley carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and picked up the win. Dane Anderson, Zach Burns, Scotty Mattos, Jake Sharrock, and Jonathon Tarvin all had two hits for the Trojans.
April 15 — Ryan Ellis made three first-inning runs stand up as the Trojans defeated Bowdon 3-0. Ellis allowed only two hits and struck out 12 in the shutout performance. Jake Sharrock was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Gordon Lee.
April 12 — Gordon Lee took an early lead and held on to beat Trion 9-7. Garett Burgess was the winning pitcher. Ryan Ellis struck out the final Trion hitter with the tying runs in scoring position to get the save. Zach Burns was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and five stolen bases.
April 11 — Ooltewah broke a 1-1 tie by scoring seven times in the bottom of the fifth and went on to defeat Gordon Lee 9-1. Patrick Mattos accounted for the Trojans' run with a fourth-inning home run.
April 8 — The Trojans moved to 2-0 in region play by defeating Bremen 3-1. Ryan Ellis pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts for the win. Billy Mount was 2-for-3 and Scotty Mattos also had two hits, including a two-run homer.
April 5 — Gordon Lee opened region play with an 11-0 win over Excel Christian. Garett Burgess pitched a five-inning no-hitter for the Trojans. Scotty Mattos banged out three hits and drove in four runs.
March 30 — The Trojans lost to Northwest Whitfield 6-2. Patrick Mattos drove in Gordon Lee's only runs with a two-run homer.
March 29 — Gordon Lee salvaged a split of a doubleheader by scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Boyd Buchanan 4-3. Will Brooks got the win in relief of Garett Burgess, who allowed no earned runs in six innings and struck out eight. Patrick Mattos was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Trojans. Gordon Lee had dropped the first game when Ridgeland scored 14 times in the top of the fifth on the way to a 16-4 win.
March 26 — The Trojans won the Yellow Jacket Classic at Lookout Valley by pounding Rockwood 13-3. GLHS collected 15 hits in the five-inning win. Dane Anderson got the win on the mound. Daniel White paced the offense, going 3-for-3 at the plate, and was named the tournament's MVP. Scotty Mattos, Patrick Mattos, and Dane Anderson were selected to the All-Tournament team.
March 25 — Gordon Lee won two games in the Yellow Jacket Classic at Lookout Valley. In the first game the Trojans defeated Franklin Road Academy 7-2. Scotty Mattos led the offense with three hits and Matt Thornburg added two doubles and two RBIs. Will Brooks was the winning pitcher. In the nightcap Gordon Lee rallied for two runs after two were out in the bottom of the eighth to knock off Columbia Academy 8-7. Patrick Mattos singled to tie the game and then Scotty Mattos doubled in the game winner. Daniel White was 2-for-3 with a grand slam.
March 18 — The Trojans lost to Southeast Whitfield 19-4. Daniel White had a double and two RBIs to lead the Gordon Lee offense.
March 15 — Gordon Lee held off a late rally by Chattanooga Christian to defeat the Chargers 5-4. Dane Anderson was the winning pitcher. Daniel White was 3-for-3 with a home run and Scotty Mattos had two doubles.
March 14 — The Trojans defeated Notre Dame 4-2. Patrick Mattos was the winning pitcher and had two hits to lead the GLHS offense.
March 12 — Gordon Lee lost to Landmark Christian 8-3. Patrick Mattos had two of the Trojans' four hits.
March 10 — The Trojans squeezed by Washington County 1-0. Ryan Ellis was the winning pitcher, allowing only three hits and striking out 10.
March 5 — Gordon Lee pounded out 12 hits in a 16-3 trouncing of Prince Avenue Christian. Zach Burns had a homer, triple, and six RBIs, and Scotty Mattos had a homer and three RBIs for the Trojans.
March 4 — The Trojans opened their season with a 4-2 loss at top-ranked Athens Academy.
