Back-to-Back Girls Region 6-A Champions

Girls golfers win region again

The GLHS girls' golf team won its second consecutive Region 6-A championship on April 24 at the Lion in Bremen. Rachel Mason was the tournament's low medalist, and Jorden Watson was the region runner-up.

The Lady Trojans advanced to the state tournament at Bull Creek where they finished third.

2007 season updates

May 7 The Lady Trojans finished third at the Class A State Golf Championships held at Bull Creek Golf Course in Columbus. Rachel Mason led GLHS with a 97, placing third individually. Jorden Watson added a 106. The Trojans finished tenth at the Championships. Trey Clendenen led the scoring with an 89. Josh Bloodworth had a 90, and Spencer Burns and James Gaither each shot 94.

Apr 24 The Lady Trojans won their second consecutive Region 6-A championship. Rachel Mason won the individual championship with a 98, and Jorden Watson added a 101. The Trojans finished second in their region tournament. Trey Clendenen led GLHS with an 86. Spencer Burns and Bret Wooten both added 89's, and Josh Bloodworth carded a 95.

Apr 21 The Trojans won the Gordon Lee Invitational at Canyon Ridge by 20 strokes over Trion, LFO, LaFayette, and Ridgeland. Trey Clendenen was low scorer for GLHS with an 82. James Gaither had an 86, Matt Smith had a 90, and Spencer Burns added a 92.

Apr 12 The Lady Trojans beat Northwest Whitfield, Dade County, and LFO at Battlefield. Jorden Watson and Rachel Mason each shot 52 for GLHS. The Trojans knocked off LFO, Ringgold, and Dade County. Matt Smith paced Gordon Lee with a 46. Trey Clendenen and James Gaither added 48's, and Spencer Burns and Josh Bloodworth each came in with a 50.

Apr 9 The boys' team defeated Ridgeland and LaFayette at LaFayette. Spencer Burns was low medalist for the match with a 38. James Gaither had a 41, Josh Bloodworth added a 45, and Bret Wooten rounded out the scoring with a 47. The girls' team remained undefeated with wins over LaFayette and Model. The Lady Trojans were led by Rachel Mason with a 42 and Jorden Watson with a 44.

Mar 26 The Trojans defeated Dade County to run their record to 14-3. Trey Clendenen was low medalist for the match with a 40. Matt Smith added a 43, James Gaither had a 44, and Josh Bloodworth carded a 46.

Mar 22 The boys' team defeated Trion, LFO, and Murray County at Battlefield. Trey Clendenen was low medalist for the match, shooting a 41. Matt Smith and Spencer Burns both carded 43's and James Gaither added a 46. The girls' team remained undefeated for the season by winning against LFO and Murray County.

Mar 20 The girls' team picked up wins over Ringgold and LFO at Windstone. Jorden Watson shot a 43 and Megan King had a 45. The boys also defeated LFO and Ringgold. Low man for the Trojans was Matt Smith with a 43. Spencer Burns, Josh Bloodworth, and Bret Wooten all shot 44.

Mar 19 The Trojans defeated Dade County and Trion at Canyon Ridge. Low medalist for the match was Spencer Burns with a 40. Matt Smith shot a 42, James Gaither had a 44, and Trey Clendenen carded a 50.

Mar 13 Gordon Lee's girls beat Murray County at Spring Lakes. Jorden Watson and Megan King were the leaders for GLHS. The boys' team lost to the Indians. Spencer Burns was low scorer for the Trojans.

Mar 12 The Lady Trojans topped LaFayette and Sonoraville at the LaFayette course. Jorden Watson and Rachel Mason were the low scorers. The Trojans beat Sonoraville and Ridgeland but lost to LaFayette. Spencer Burns was low man for GLHS with a 41. Josh Bloodworth added a 42 while Matt Smith and James Gaither carded 46's.

Mar 8 The boys' team defeated Ridgeland, LaFayette, and LFO at Battlefield to improve its record to 4-1. Trey Clendenen was low medalist for the match with a 41. James Gaither came in with a 45, and Matt Smith and Josh Bloodworth each added 49's. The girls' team beat LFO in its first match of the season. Jorden Watson was the low scorer with a 47.

Mar 7 The Trojans opened their season by splitting a pair of matches at Nob North, defeating Southeast Whitfield but losing to Murray County. Trey Clendenen was low scorer for GLHS with a 41. James Gaither posted a 42, Matt Smith had a 44, and Spencer Burns added a 47.
