2011 season updates
Apr 26 The Lady Trojans' season ended with a 3-2 loss to Providence Christian in the second round of the state tournament. The doubles teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Katie Barger-Kendall Johnson got the points for GLHS. Gordon Lee finished the year with a school-record 14 wins and only three losses.
Apr 19 The Lady Trojans defeated Strong Rock Christian 4-0 in the first round of the state tournament. Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson won in singles and the team of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation won in doubles for GLHS.
Apr 11 The girls' team finished second in the Region 6-A tournament for the third consecutive year. The Lady Trojans defeated North Cobb Christian 3-1 in the first round and knocked off Mt. Paran 3-2 in the semifinals before falling 3-2 in the finals to Darlington. Victoria Anderson won three matches for GLHS while Kelyse Mauldin and the team of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation won twice each. The boys' team had their season end with a 3-1 loss to Mt. Paran in the tournament's first round. Drew Russ was the Trojans' only winner.
Mar 31 The Lady Trojans lost to Darlington 3-2. Kelyse Mauldin and Victoria Anderson won for GLHS. The Trojans were defeated by the Tigers 5-0.
Mar 29 The girls' team beat North Murray 5-0, getting wins from Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson in singles and from the doubles teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Katie Barger-Kendall Johnson. The boys fell to the Mountaineers 3-2. Joseph Looney won in singles and the team of Kalen Bradley-Jon Brooks won in doubles for GLHS.
Mar 24 The Lady Trojans collected a 5-0 sub-region victory over Trion. Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson swept the singles matches while the teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Katie Barger-Kendall Johnson were winners in doubles. The Trojans lost to the Bulldogs 3-2. Joseph Looney and the doubles team of Matt Malone-Jonathan Bettis got the wins for GLHS.
Mar 23 The girls' team defeated Northwest Whitfield 4-0 in a rain-shortened match. Allison King and Kelyse Mauldin won singles matches and the teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Katie Barger-Kendall Johnson won in doubles. The boys' match was rained out.
Mar 22 The Lady Trojans shut out Ridgeland 5-0 without dropping a game. Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson, and the teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Courtney Towns-Katie Barger were winners for GLHS. The Trojans also beat the Panthers 5-0. Drew Russ, Joseph Looney, and Chase Wood swept the singles while the teams of Matt Malone-Jonathan Bettis and Samuel Welsh-Jon Brooks picked up doubles wins.
Mar 21 Both teams picked up sub-region victories over Excel Christian. Joseph Looney and Chase Wood won singles matches and the teams of Matt Malone-Jonathan Bettis and Samuel Welsh-Jon Brooks won in doubles to give the Trojans a 4-1 win over the Eagles. The Lady Trojans won 5-0 as Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson, and the teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Courtney Towns-Katie Barger notched victories.
Mar 19 The Lady Trojans topped Dalton by a score of 4-1. GLHS got singles wins from Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson and a doubles victory from the team of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation. The Trojans lost to the Catamounts 5-0.
Mar 17 The girls' team beat LaFayette 4-1. Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson swept the singles matches while the team of Kendall Johnson-Katie Barger won in doubles. The boys fell to the Ramblers 4-1. Joseph Looney was the only winner for GLHS.
Mar 12 The Lady Trojans won the Northwest Tennis Tournament with two shutout victories. The girls blanked both LFO and Northwest Whitfield by 5-0 scores. Allison King, Victoria Anderson, and Madison Hilley each won twice in singles, while Katie Barger, Sara Clayton, Kendall Johnson, and Courtney Towns combined to win four doubles matches. The Trojans fell to LFO 4-1 and to Northwest 3-2, dropping four of five three-set matches on the day. The team of Samuel Welsh-Jon Brooks won twice for GLHS.
Mar 8 The girls' team defeated Murray County 3-0 in a rain-shortened match. Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson picked up singles wins before the rains came. The boys' match was suspended.
Mar 3 The Lady Trojans opened their season with a 5-0 win over LFO. Allison King, Kelyse Mauldin, and Victoria Anderson won singles matches and the teams of Madison Hilley-Brenna Nation and Courtney Towns-Kendall Johnson picked up doubles victories. The Trojans got a singles sweep from Drew Russ, Joseph Looney, and Chase Wood and a doubles win from the pair of Samuel Welsh-Jon Brooks in their 4-1 win over the Warriors.
