Clarkson, Dalton place in state meet

Ashlan Clarkson placed second in the discus and Brittany Dalton finished sixth in the pole vault at the GHSA state meet in Albany on Thursday, May 6. Clarkson also finished second in the discus at last year's state meet.


2004 season updates

May 6 - Ashlan Clarkson was second in the discus and Brittany Dalton sixth in the pole vault at the girls' state track meet in Albany.

April 28 - Four members of the Trojan track team qualified for the state meet by virtue of their finish at the Region 6A meet. They were Kyle Garner in shot put, Spencer Tinsley in pole vault, Colin Shields in high jump, and Josh Bates in the 800m run.

April 22 - Four members of the Lady Trojan track team qualified for the state meet by virtue of their finish at the Region 6A meet. They were Ashlan Clarkson in discus, Amanda Kingsley in shot put, Brittany Dalton in pole vault, and Amanda Browning in the 300m hurdles.

April 20 - In a meet at LFO, Kasey Mays won the high jump, Ashlan Clarkson was first in discus, Brittany Dalton won the pole vault, and Amanda Browning was first in the 100m and 300m hurdles. Browning's time of 52.42 was a new GLHS record. For the boys, Colin Shields won the high jump and Brandon Self won the triple jump and the pole vault.

March 30 - The girls team defeated CCS, LFO, and Dade County. Finishing first in their event were Amanda Kingsley, Ashlan Clarkson, Sara Jewell, Alli Brooks, Kerri Mathis. Boys who finished first were John Guthrie, Adam Willoughby, and Brandon Self.

March 23 - Amanda Kingsley, Ashlan Clarkson, Kasey Mays, Brittany Dalton, Alli Brooks, Kyle Garner, Colin Shields, Greg Hickman, Brandon Self, and Adam Willoughby all placed first in their events in a meet against LaFayette.

March 19 - Ashlan Clarkson and Brandon Self finished in first place in their events at the Adairsville Invitational. Self set the meet record in the pole vault by clearing 12' 6".

March 16 - Ashlan Clarkson, Brandon Self, and Greg Hickman finished first in their events in a meet against Northwest Whitfield and Murray County.

March 11 - The track teams had four first places in their meet against Dalton and Ringgold: Ashlan Clarkson in discus, Amanda Browning in the 300m hurdles, Adam Willoughby in the 110m hurdles, and Brandon Self in pole vault. Self tied the GLHS record with a vault of 13' 0".
