2005 season updates
May 14 — Brandon Self cleared 13-0 in the pole vault to win the Class A state championship at the state meet in Jefferson. Spencer Tinsley finished 4th in the pole vault. Kyle Garner was 5th in the shot put, Colin Shields 5th in the high jump, and Kris Robertson 6th in the 800-meter run.
May 7 — The Lady Trojans were 11th in the state meet at Albany. Brittany Dalton finished 3rd in the pole vault, Kasey Mays finished 3rd in the high jump, and Maddie McKinley was 5th in the long jump.

May 3 — The Trojans finished second in the Region 6A meet. Eleven athletes qualified for the state meet in Jefferson on May 12, 13, & 14. Individual qualifiers were:
- Kyle Garner - Shot put
- Greg Hickman - 100-meter dash
- Justin Oyer - 3200-meter run
- Casey Rauscher - 800-meter run
- Kris Robertson - 400-meter dash, 800-meter run
- Brandon Self - Pole vault
- Colin Shields - High jump, 300-meter hurdles
- Spencer Tinsley - Pole vault
The Trojans also qualified teams in both relay events. The 4x100 team of Hickman, Brad Guthrie, Corey Pettit, and Zach Trotter will advance to the state meet, as will the 4x400 team of Hickman, Robertson, Shields, and Trotter.
During the meet, Self broke his own GLHS record by clearing 13-6 in the pole vault.
April 27 — At the Region 6A meet the Lady Trojans qualified six athletes for the state meet. Advancing to the state meet in Albany on May 5, 6, & 7 are:
- Amanda Browning - 300-meter hurdles
- Brittany Dalton - Pole vault
- Kasey Mays - High jump
- Maddie McKinley - Long jump
- Kori Penland - 1600-meter run
- Jessica Wiles - 3200-meter run
April 19 — Kyle Garner and Spencer Tinsley won their events in a meet at Ringgold. Maddie McKinley set a new GLHS record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.14 seconds.
April 18 — In a dual meet against LaFayette, Brittny Morgan won both the high jump and the 400-meter dash, Brittany Dalton was first in the pole vault, and Maddie McKinley took the 100-meter dash. Both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams were also victorious.
April 12 — In a meet at LFO, Kasey Mays finished first in the high jump, Colin Shields was first in the high jump and 300-meter hurdles, Kyle Garner was first in the shot put, and Casey Rauscher won the 110-meter hurdles.
March 31 — The girls' team finished third in the Gordon Lee Invitational and the boys' team finished fourth. First place winners were Maddie McKinley in the long jump, Brittny Morgan in the 400-meter dash, Brandon Self in the pole vault, and Kyle Garner in the discus. Finishing second were Brittany Dalton in the pole vault, Amanda Browning in the 300-meter hurdles, and the 4x100-meter relay team of Sara Jewell, Annie Beckman, Morgan, and McKinley. Browning set a new GLHS record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.34 seconds. Self also set a new GLHS record, clearing 13-1 in the pole vault.
March 29 — The girls' team opened its season by finishing second by only two points in a five-way meet. Brittany Dalton, Britny Morgan, and Maddie McKinley were event winners for Gordon Lee. Colin Shields and Kyle Garner won for the boys' team.
