2006 season updates
May 13 — Colin Shields finished third in the high jump at the state meet in Jefferson. Kris Robertson was sixth in the 400m and Manny Hinkle was seventh in the pole vault.
May 6 — At the state meet in Albany, Brittny Morgan placed fourth in the 400m and Laurie Sieg was seventh in the 800m.
May 2 — GLHS finished second in the Region 6-A meet, only six points behind first-place Bremen. Eight Trojans qualified for the state meet in seven events. Placing first in their events were Kyle Garner in the shot put, Colin Shields in the high jump, Greg Hickman in the 200m, Kris Robertson, who set a new school record in the 400m, and the 4x100m relay team of Hickman, Zach Jarvis, Robertson, and Matt Thornburg, who also set a new school record. Second-place finishers were Rob Crowder in the high jump, Manny Hinkle in the pole vault, Jarvis in the 200m, and Hickman in the 100m. Shields finished third in the 300m hurdles, but set a new school record in the process.
April 25 — Gordon Lee finished third in the Region 6-A girls' meet. Three Lady Trojans qualified for the state meet. Brittny Morgan and Allyson Quinn swept the top spots in the pole vault, and Laurie Sieg won the 800m. Morgan also qualified in a second event, winning the 400m.
April 18 — The Trojans had three winners in a meet at LFO. Colin Shields was first in the high jump, Kyle Garner captured the shot put, and Casey Rauscher won the 110m hurdles. Brittny Morgan was the only winner for the Lady Trojans, taking first in the 400m.
April 10 — In a meet at Southeast Whitfield, Colin Shields captured the high jump and 300m hurdles, while Kyle Garner won the shot put and discus. Kris Robertson got the Trojans' only other win, taking first in the 400m. For the Lady Trojans, Brittny Morgan won the high jump and 400m, Laurie Sieg took the 800m, and Amber Early was first in the 200m. The 4x400 relay team also finished first.
March 31 — The Trojans finished second in the annual Gordon Lee Invitational track meet. Kyle Garner took first in the shot put, Colin Shields won the high jump, and Kris Robertson was first in the 400-meter dash. The Lady Trojans were fourth in the eight-team field. Brittny Morgan set a new Invitational record in winning the 400m, and was co-winner of the Best in Track award.
March 28 — Colin Shields, Kyle Garner, Brittny Morgan, and Amber Early each won two events in a three-way meet. Shields took first in the high jump and 300m hurdles, Garner captured the shot put and discus, Morgan was first in the high jump and 400m, and Early was tops in the long jump and 100m. Other first place winners were Manny Hinkle, Kris Robertson, Greg Hickman, and Laurie Sieg.
March 16 — Seven boys and seven girls finished first or second in their event. Kyle Garner, Casey Rauscher, Colin Shields, Kris Robertson, Rob Crowder, Tyler Lankford, and Greg Hickman were tops for the Trojans, while Amber Vick, Jordan Bohannon, Kerri Mathis, Brittny Morgan, Amber Early, Laurie Sieg, and Jessy Pressley took the honors for the Lady Trojans.
