The Gordon Lee volleyball team knocked off Darlington in three straight games on October 21 to win the first Area championship in school history. The Lady Trojans dominated the match, winning 25-20, 25-16, and 25-12. Earlier in the tournament Gordon Lee had defeated Temple after receiving a first-round bye and topped Darlington in the winner's bracket finals.

The six senior members of the GLHS volleyball team, the foundation of the program since its inception, were each named to an All-Area team during the awards ceremony following the Area championship match on October 21.

Kara Durham, Heather Graham, and Allison Watts were named to the All-Area first team and Amanda Browning, Laura McCollum, and Erica McCormick were named All-Area second team.

Watts was chosen as Area Player of the Year and Coach Heather Taylor was named as Area Coach of the Year.


2004 season updates

October 30 — Gordon Lee lost to Eagle's Landing Christian and Calvary Baptist in the state Sectional tournament. The Lady Trojans ended the season with a 19-13 record.

October 21 — Gordon Lee beat Darlington 3-0 to win the Area 6AA/A championship.

October 16 — Gordon Lee defeated Temple 2-0 and Darlington 2-0 in the Area 6AA/A tournament.

October 14 — Gordon Lee lost to Lakeview 2-0.

October 12 — The Lady Trojans defeated Ridgeland 2-1. Kara Durham had 9 kills and 14 digs and Tiffany Smallwood had 2 kills and 7 digs.

October 7 — Gordon Lee knocked off Murray County in two straight games. Heather Graham had 10 kills, 5 digs, and 1 block and Kara Durham had 16 assists, 4 aces, and 4 digs.

September 30 — The Lady Trojans fell to LaFayette 2-1 and to Darlington 2-0.

September 28 — Gordon Lee improved to 4-0 in region play by sweeping two matches. The Lady Trojans defeated both Rockmart and Adairsville by 2-0 scores. Heather Graham had 8 kills and 4 digs against Rockmart and Allison Watts had 6 aces and 7 digs against Adairsville

September 25 — The Lady Trojans dropped four 2-1 matches in the Tennessee Tandem Tournament.

September 23 — Gordon Lee rallied to win against Southeast Whitfield 2-0. Amanda Browning had 5 aces and 12 digs and Laura McCollum had 5 service points and 4 digs. Earlier the Lady Trojans had lost to Walker 2-1. Kara Durham had 4 aces and 15 digs and Allison Watts had 8 kills and 8 digs.

September 21 — The Lady Trojans defeated Temple 2-0 and LaFayette 2-0. Heather Graham had 6 kills and 5 aces and Tiffany Smallwood had 7 digs.

September 14 — Gordon Lee split two matches, defeating Tennessee Temple 2-0 but losing to Walker Valley 2-1. Against Temple Kara Durham had 6 kills and 13 digs and Tiffany Smallwood had 4 service points. Allison Watts had 5 kills and 19 digs while Laura McCollum had 9 digs versus Walker Valley.

September 11 — Gordon Lee finished third in the Darlington Tiger Tournament. The Lady Trojans defeated Providence Christian 2-0 and Rome 2-0 in pool play before falling to Pace Academy 2-1 in the tournament semifinals. Gordon Lee dropped the deciding game 25-22. Kara Durham had 25 kills and 30 digs for the day and Heather Graham had 23 kills and 3 blocks. Erica McCormick was voted to the All-Tournament team.

September 2 — The Lady Trojans beat Murray County 2-1. Gordon Lee dropped the first game but rallied to win the next two. They closed the match with a 25-17 win in game three. Erica McCormick had 6 aces and 18 assists. Jordan Dupree had 4 digs.

August 26 — Gordon Lee beat Chattanooga Christian in two straight games. Kara Durham had 6 kills and 15 digs while Amanda Browning added 3 aces and 8 digs. The Lady Trojans defeated Grace Academy 2-1, winning the deciding game 26-24. Allison Watts led the team with 12 kills and 15 digs and Heather Graham had 7 kills and 12 digs.

August 23 — Gordon Lee defeated Ridgeland 2-0. Amanda Browning had 5 aces and 6 digs and Kara Durham had 4 aces, 7 kills, 9 digs, and 1 block. The Lady Trojans fell to LFO in three games. Allison Watts had 11 kills and 10 digs, Laura McCollum had 6 kills and 4 digs, and Amanda Browning had 9 digs.

August 19 — Gordon Lee kicked off its season by winning two matches at Southeast Whitfield. GLHS opened by beating Gilmer County in two straight games. Erica McCormick had 4 aces and 12 assists and Tiffany Smallwood had 3 aces and 2 kills. The Lady Trojans dropped the first game to Southeast but won the next two to take the match. Allison Watts had 12 kills and 5 digs. Heather Graham had 7 aces and 9 kills.
